If you have lost, or are losing your teeth, consider dentures as a solution. A denture is a removable replacement for missing teeth and surrounding tissues. Dr. Jewell and Dr. Bowers administer both complete and partial denture procedures here at Jewell Dentistry in Wilmington, NC.
COMPLETE DENTURES
Complete dentures are used when all teeth are missing from a patient’s mouth. There are two types of complete dentures: conventional and immediate. Conventional dentures are made when the remaining teeth are taken out and after the gums have healed. Healing takes about two to three months. Immediate dentures are created ahead of time and can be used by the patient while their gums are healing. Immediate dentures are only a temporary solution. They should only be worn until conventional dentures are made.

PARTIAL DENTURES
A partial denture is a removable dental appliance used to replace one or more missing teeth. It consists of artificial teeth attached to a gum-colored base, which is designed to fit snugly over the gums. Partial dentures are supported by the remaining natural teeth and often include metal clasps or precision attachments for stability. They help restore the function and appearance of missing teeth, enabling better chewing, speaking, and smiling while preventing the remaining teeth from shifting out of position.
